2005 Inductee
Carl Nagel

SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. -- Mother Nature threatened to derail Friday night’s racing card at the Penn Can Speedway as a heavy storm late in the afternoon threatened the scheduled racing card, but the storm passed and the track crew went to work. Despite a slightly delayed start, there was no more rain and the entire program went on as scheduled on a very fast, moist tacky track. All of the racing action was sponsored by former Super Stock racer Randy Gates and his RWG Construction business.

Rick Holgate, Alan Rudalavage, and Steve Babicek won the Modified qualifying events. Eight time Penn Can Speedway track champion Carl Nagel was recognized in victory lane for his accomplishments during a racing career that has spanned five decades. Nagel’s achievements in the sport have earned him a place of honor in the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame. Nagel accepted that prestigious honor on Sunday afternoon during induction ceremonies at the Hall of Fame in Weedsport, NY.

Carl "Bub" Nagel - Throughout his storied racing career Nagel has been a well-respected driver that many of his biggest rivals have looked up to. He was a class act from day one, racing clean and hard without the slightest show of any emotion. What many racing people liked about Carl Nagel was his quiet, easy going style, the same style that has enabled the West Windsor resident to win 11 track championships and close to 200 career feature wins.
